Procedure Details

This patient presented to me with a failing upper dentition. His teeth were severely decayed and mobile. He had not seen a dentist in all of his life and had a bone condition known as periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is a disease of the bone surrounding our teeth. When teeth are not cleaned properly it can lead to tartar build-up which can lead to inflammation in the gums and further into the bone. In the extreme end, this condition can cause teeth to become very loose and ultimately need to be extracted. This disease has been studied immensely. Its cause is multi-factorial with many risk factors such as smokers and diabetics. There is a direct correlation with periodontal disease and heart disease as well as diabetes and pre-term birth in pregnant women. For this patient, it was too late to control and required teeth to be extracted as it was not going to be cost-effective. The patient chose dentures to replace his failing teeth to provide better function, esthetics, and ultimately health. Come talk to us today for a periodontal exam or if you are interested in dentures! Here at Crown Dental, we do the entire procedure from sedation/extractions to making you the final denture. This ultimately saves you more money as you don’t have to be sent to an oral surgeon as well as time and is very convenient.
