Teeth, although the strongest substance in our body, can become weak and form cracks in them just like a crack on the windshield of your car. In some instances these cracks can continue to grow and eventually split teeth in half as you see in the first picture. I see many patients in my office that have teeth that present like the second case. In some instances I will recommend to clean out the crack to seal it and in other instances I will also recommend a crown for a full coverage protection. By doing some preventative treatment like a filling or a crown you can save your tooth from causing pain/infection and in some instances need to be extracted. What happens if you lose your tooth?
