This patient was referred to our office after completing orthodontics. Although her teeth were aligned you can tell that her smile was partially gummy vs seeing more white teeth. There are are couple reasons why this may be and can most of the time be corrected with a procedure that is call aesthetic crown lengthening done here at Crown Dental. One reason why this happens is called Altered passive eruption. When this happens the gums dont move to their correct position leaving more gum and less tooth showing. To correct this we simply remove the gum tissue and sometimes bone to its proper biological position. This leaves a brighter smile and uniform smile completing our patients beautiful smile!
